Ambassador Mizanur Rahman, eldest son of late Mujibur Rahman, a retired Civil Servant of Bangladesh Government and Mrs. Farida Rahman, Matriculated from Dhanmondi Govt. Boy’s School High School; completed Intermediate of Science from Sylhet Degree College; obtained BSC Honors and MSC in Physics from the Dhaka University. He stood First Class First in order of merit in BSC Honours.

Ambassador Mizanur Rahman joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service on 15 February 1988. He served as Second Secretary in Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo; First Secretary and Counsellor in Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow, Assistant High Commissioner in the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Manchester, UK.

Ambassador Mizanur Rahman was Director General Multilateral Economic Affairs, International Organization and Administration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh.

Ambassador Mizanur Rahman joined as Ambassador to the Netherlands in March 2008 and assumed concurrent charge as Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Poland. Later in July 2010 he was the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt and assumed concurrent charge as Bangladesh Ambassador to Cyprus and Algeria. 

Ambassador Mizanur Rahman completed Foreign Service Training from Dhaka in 1989, obtained Diploma in French Language from the Institute ProLinguis from Belgium in 1990. 

Prior to joining as Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada, he held the post of Secretary Bilateral Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh.

Ambassador Mizanur Rahman is married to Nishat Rahman, an educationalist by profession. They have a son and a daughter.
