Observance of the Victory Day 16 December 2016
Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa observed the Victory Day – 16 December 2016 with due solemnity and fervor. To observe the the day, H.E. the High Commissioner raised the National Flag at the Bangladesh House in the morning where all officers and officials of the Mission were present. Special Munajah was offered for salvation of the martyrs of the great Liberation War of 1971, the martyrs of 1952 Language Movement and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who embraced martyrdom in 15th August 1975.
A discussion followed by cultural programme was organized by the Mission in the evening at the Kailash Mital Theatre of Carleton University, Ottawa. Messages of the Hon'ble President, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, the Hon'ble Foreign Minister and the Hon'ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by officers of the Mission.
H.E. Mizanur Rahman, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Canada delivered the speech where he detailed out the development and welfare activities of the present Government and urged upon all to be engaged in nation building activities for achieving the Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation, Baqngabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under the able leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Renowned artists (singers, dancers, reciters and children) rendered patriotic songs, dances and recited poems. The programme was highly appreciated by community members who joined the Mission to celebrate the great Victory Day. They rendered songs featuring the struggle for our independence by the great leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (Ei Banglar Kautha Bolte Giye Bishwo Take Kapiye Dilo Koun She Konthoshwor / Mujibor . . . Shey Jey Mujibor . . / Joy Bangla Bole Re Vai . . .).
Patriotic songs rendered by renowned artists of Ottawa paying homage to the millions of martyrs and freedom fighters (Shob Kauta Janala Khule Dao Na / Ami Gaibo, Gaibo, Bijoyer-i Gaan . . .) enthralled the audience who joined the celebration of the Victory Day organized by Bangladesh High Commission, Ottawa.
Artists rendering patriotic songs featuring the beautiful land, river and the life of the people of Bangladesh (Ei Padma, Ei Meghna, Ei Jamuna-Shuroma Nodi Totey....).
"Ei Amader Bangladesh" (This is Our Bangladesh) - by renowned poet Syed Shamsul Haque was recited by a child reciter.
Child singers rendering the song "Ma Go, Bhabna Keno . . ." meaning, "mother Bangladesh, you don't have to worry . . . "
Dance with the song titled - "Daak Eshechhey Shono, Eki Shurey Awaj Othao, Ek Potaka Tolo..." meaning "hear the clarion call, be united, raise the single flag" gave the programme a different flavour.
In chorus the artists presented the song - "Shurjodoye Tumi, Shurjasteo Tumi / O Amar Bangladesh, Prio Janmobhumi" . . . (From sun-rise to the sun-set, you Bangladesh, my dear Motherland). . .
The chorus song - "Banglar Hindu, Banglar Bouddho, Banglar Christian, Banglar Musalman ... / Amra Shobai Bangalee" (Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and Muslims living in Bengal - we all are Bengalees") gave a wonderful presentation of the secular Bangladesh where all people live in peace and harmony irrespective of religious identity.
His Excellency Mizanur Rahman, High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Canad, and Mrs. Nishat Rahman encouraged the artists and thanked them for their wonderful presentation of our great country Bangladesh through music, songs, dance and recitations.
